Let’s save sea turtles together
While walking along the beach at Vivosa, you may come across unexpected tracks in the sand: those left by sea turtles, which return every year to nest along our coastline.
And if you are especially lucky, you might even witness the hatching of the eggs or the release of turtles cared for by the Sea Turtle Rescue Centre of Calimera.
A truly unforgettable experience.
Sea turtles are an endangered species, especially the most common one, Caretta caretta. These turtles return every year to nest on our beaches, where they were born, drawn back by the clean, unpolluted waters.
The Marine Turtle Rescue Centre of Calimera, with which Vivosa has collaborated for years, monitors and protects nests and cares for injured turtles before releasing them back into the sea. The CRTM volunteers carry out this work entirely free of charge, but the animals in care require fish, salt, medicines, equipment and much more — all of which unfortunately comes at a cost.
This is why Vivosa TrartaFriends was created: a awareness and fundraising programme supporting a local organisation deeply committed to helping these wonderful animals. You can do your part too!
